Default My first try at flounder gigging this fall

This was my first attempt at flounder gigging back on 10/20. The 3 dark flounder were the ones gigged. The summer flounder was caught on hook and line earlier that day. If the water wasn't so cold, I'd be tempted to go try it now

Just to make sure I checked the site once again. It's 18.5 and you can only possess 5 per person. Crazy huh!

18.5? wow. The big one was 19 inches, one 18, two 17. Could have gotten some more that night but wasn't sure about their size in the mud. After gigging one of those, I put him on my string and he went crazy. After he quieted down, shined my light around and there were all these flounder shapes depressed into the mud! Arrr Guess he scared a ton of them off. i definitly have the fever now

My light setup is just a 12 volt bulb in a long pvc pipe attached to a battery behind me in a tube. Haven't tried gigging in a boat yet, but the wading thing was a lotta fun. I liked the peace and quiet and the sneaking up on the flounder

Hey Stephen,
How late in the year do you gig? With my style, I'm sorta limited to how cold can I stand the water. How late or cold can the water be and still gig flounder from a boat?
