User Name

Used to be an Army Infantry Grunt (groundpounder) in Nam.

Boat Name

Water Friends IV

Say it to yourself a few times with a questionmark at the end and you should get it. Just a play on words, well that boat is used for cruising with family and friends nothing deeper.

My fishing boat is as yet unnamed. My last one was "Wet The Hull IV" - that one was a bit more obvious.

Well, my user name comes from being hard headed. Imagine that. Also from my day fishing for Red Snapper as an obsession. Much fun, those times.

I have never truly named any of my boats, though I did have a 25 Contender that I called the "Disc Blower" It had less to do with the ride of the hull than it did with the conditions I would subject it to. I can no longer take that sort of punishment, so I reckon the next boat will have to wear the name "broken-down-old-azz-pansy", or somthing like that.

User name = Old boat name

Boat name now is Reely Nauti - obviously this was just a play off of the old name. How we got that name I don't really remember.

Our Bertram is named Lioness since I went to Penn State, hence the reference to a Lion. Our next boat will be JoeBear. With me from Penn State and my wife from Alabama it fits and besides, with a home port of New Orleans, it needed to sound somewhat cajun.

Boat started out as DINK (Double Income, no kids) then my wife got pregnant, so that wouldn't work. We weren't telling anybody the baby's name so people starting calling her baby bigs (last name is Helbig) then somehow it turned into baby bigsee, so just modified it to fit the boat.

Y-Knot is the boat name also

Y Knot was born when I decided to purchase my first Pursuit and said "Why not buy it!!"
I also though about "what the f***" but that would have looked funny on the side of the boat.

Many guys name their boats after their wifes, daughters or girl friend. For me I chose my 2nd wife's Chinese nickname: XIAO MU JI (She-Oh-Moo-Gee) which means Little Female Chicken since both her and I were born twelve years apart but both on the year of the Rooster.

I never thought that I would tatoo a girls name on my arm or put her name on my boat, but when you fine the ultimate woman things change. I remember saying to her, "Hey honey, my accountant says I need tax deduction sime my X get to take the house I pay for and I get $800.00 for my son OUCH, I told her that we can't afford to buy a house yet but if we get a boat with all the amenities of a home it can be a secondary home...BINGO! She said great then build the boat of your dreams, I'll wait! PINCH ME! I was on the phone getting my order into the builder the next minute... SO I had to put her beautiful nick name that no one can pronounce on her...

My call sign is based on the make of my custom boat "IRONWOOD" and what I love to fish for "TUNA", hence, IRONWOODTUNA.

Wheres the fish???
