Default What I have been up to the past month

For the past month we been building low income homes in Bayside Park (Waveland) Mississippi. This area was devastated by Katrina. Out of 700 homes in this area there were only 20 homes left standing. In Bay St. Louis and the Waveland area the water was as high as 11 to 24 ft when the storm surge came thru.
Here are a couple of pictures of the first 18 out of 1000 homes that are being built. These are low income homes selling for 109,000.

Here a some pictures of someone trying to salvage a boat

Just because I'm curious.

Fernando,

I understand the need for low income housing, but haven't insurance prices shot through the roof down there, so doesn't that offset the discoutned price?

Matt you wouldnt believe the people that didnt have insurance but got paid 100% from Fema .......alot of them are still not putting insurance on their place...they are taking the chance of not losing their house to nothing but a disaster......but yes insurance has increased dramaticlly........for instance my mom had a claim for just 9k for katrina and hers went up almost 3 times....and she hadnt clamied anything for 15 years b4 that.........

Matt
It all depends on the elevation of where you are. Closer to the water......yes you will get hammered, further north away from the water, it's not that bad. This area is in a flood zone C so the insurance will only cost a few hundred more than before. Also these homes are Hud Homes so the people buying them won't pay as much.
