Default Florida Kayak - Evening Fishing - 8/1/08

I was able to get out in the Kayak for the 2nd Friday evening in a row to do a little fishing. The falling tides were such that I only had about an hour of good fishing after leaving the dock around 7:20 PM. I did get a slam though…….. well sort of!

The first fish came after about 15 minutes of fishing and was a 26 ˝ inch Redfish caught in about 2 feet of water along side of an oyster bar on a 3” New Penny Gulp Alive Shrimp. The photo shows 24’+ but the tape was not lined up to the end of the tail. Not a bad start to the evening.

The second fish was a nice Flounder that hit a Natural color Gulp 3” Shrimp coated with Shrimp flavor Lunker Sauce. This was my first attempt using the added scent and maybe the Flounder could not resist! I kept him for lunch tomorrow!

The 3rd fish was a +/- 14” Mangrove Snapper who also hit the Natural color Gulp 3” Shrimp. Got him just after dusk and released without taking a photo.

On the way back in I hit one Snook light and had on a 18” to 21” fish that got off just prior to me touching the leader so it doesn’t really count.

Another great night in the Kayak!

Jeff

Nice work Jeff. Again, that's got to be pretty cool to just hop out and do that anytime you've got the time. And, good on gas too! BTW, the Furuno is awesome. Still working on the details of running it but we were real impressed with it. At one point we were trolling a temp break and you could see the sloping thermocline along the break with the bait balls on the warm side and the temp graph would hop up or down right on top of the break. Real impressive.
