Default The moon and ocean from Duck, NC.

Taken over two nights right around the new year...to be clear, 9-12 second exposures without a tri-pod are some kind of difficult to take without some blur, so keep that in mind.

New camera/lens...so I was having a blast just sitting around taking pictures of nothing.

Nikon D40 with a 55-200VR lens (and whatever the kit lens that it came with is, but w/out a tri-pod I was using that VR lens for all it was worth taking those long exposures).

The ISO was way too high, so that's why they look so grainy. It was literally days old when I took those pictures so in the dark on the beach I wasn't even trying to change the settings...I just went with it on auto, so I want to try again with a tri-pod and playing with some of the settings.
