Default What oil for 12v71 DD's?

What oil do you run in your detroit's? I've seen so many brands and weights thrown out there, I'm confused. We really don't get "winter weather" so I assume my block heaters will be more than adequate.

Default Oil for DD's

When I was in marine diesel repair school, about 30 something years ago, not only did we get our hands greasy, we did some research Chevron Delo 400 met all manufacturers and military standards. I have been using it in all of my engines since then. I tore an older engine down for rebuild with over 11,000 hours on it, always used Chevron Delo 400 and it was clean as a whistle.

We used Delo 400 by the drum for all of our 71 series motors. Rotella 30 wt is another good one, don't think it is the same formula as the newer Rotella T for small trucks.

I can tell you that the "detroit brand" is friggin nuts on price but the normal run of the mill brand at papco seems to keep her happy.
