Default new lights and headliner

Anyone have experiance with the next generation of LED lights in cabins? At the FLBS I saw several that are now dimmable. What I can't tell is if they have gotten them bright enough yet to replace the very hot halogen flush mounts I have now. Also, I assume the are a LOT safer from a fire issue than the halogens. Currently, I never leave my boat with the lights on and there are times we go to dinner and it would be nice to return to a lite cabin.
