Default 12 Foot 2 piece Aftco Gaff For Sale

This gaff is like new, i can't even find a big enough scratch to take a picture of. Sells for $185 new, would like to get $125. I don't king mackeral fish anymore and just want it out of my garage. I think this is going to be a pickup only item, as its to big to ship.

Email any interests to UNCWCraig@ec.rr.com

Thumbs up

Someone ought to buy this gaff I have the same gaff and love it. What is nice you can use it with or without the extension. The fish do not get away when they get within range at the boat....Mark

It's a great gaff, heck cost on it is just over $100. Someone should jump on this.

Lemme ask, and in a completely open minded kind of way: I can manage to miss a gaff shot with a 4' gaff...how would someone like me have a chance in heck at hitting home with a 12' gaff? What purpose do they serve primarily at that length? Gaffing fish that are still lit up further from the boat so they don't freak or gaffing deeper fish or what?

Just because a gaff is 12' long doesnt mean you gaff a fish 12' from the boat. For instance you would be hard pressed to gaff tuna 2ft under the water with a 4ft gaff on a rough day. A 4ft is just to short. I find when you get a fish close enough to the boat to gaff it with a 4ft gaff it freaks out and is tough to gaff. With a longer gaff it just seams easier to gaff a larger fish. Even with a 8ft gaff you are really only using about 5ft of the entire length.......Mark

I hear ya...I have an 8ft gaff and to be honest have yet to have much practice with it, but I'd see a 12' gaff being cumbersome, I was just curious what it's particular niche in the offshore world was (again, not saying that it IS cumbersome or useless, because they obviously sell)...saw the reference to kingfishing...any particular use in that arena?

I would think the guys on the new 42 Yellowfins would be all over it, its gotta be 8 foot down from the bow to the water. Seriously the 12' gives you a better range to get a good hook in a 40lb king before he has that last head shake that usually spits the hooks.
