Welcome to TBR from W. Pa. Someone finally asked a question I feel qualified to answer! In New Jersey go to Island Beach State Park (near Toms River). You'll have to buy a permit here but it is well worth it. There is a 1/3 mile long Army Corp. jetty to fish from lining Oregon inlet (ware spikes). Last I knew most state Striper records were taken here. Good surf fishing also. Great tog and weak-fishing. This is where I learned to saltwater fish. Next try Assateague Island near Ocean City, MD. 19 miles of uncluttered surf fishing and some small jettys. Great scenery and the wild ponies everywhere. You will also have to buy a permit.
