that may be the old stereotype and the way yam dealers want you to think, but verados are just as reliable as yams...so the "far out and troling all day" thing is just wrong - do a search of all the websites within the last 3 years and just as many Verados that are trolling long, going far and coming home and protecting you against things that yams do such as this:

after 3 years of great reliablity, it's time to drop this charade about Merc being "hi-strung" - they work just as well with a much better user interface...
