I will say I do not understand why Yam would bring out a 350 at 800 lbs and THEN DETUNE IT TO A 300 and think they would sell any 300's at all....one diff I know is personally could write merc and get you at least a co "position"...Yam is just a faceless entitiy, IMO...
It's just a fun video to watch (apparently done by Henley Marine) but anyone who thinks it's the end-all cure all is an idiot...the Yam 350 is a big boat motor - slow revving, and a barge pusher - made for a Grady 360 and such...it was never made to do a drag race....not at 900 lbs wet.......as many have asked - why not a tweaked F250 at 300-325? - Yam and the rest are diametrically opposed, IMO, everyone esle is making big HP motors for center consoles and Yam has made an engine to handle the big expresses...Hat and Bertram have been looking for 500 hp outboards they can hang on big 40 something SF's for years...Yam will get there first.....
but watch some of the other websites - this really fires em up...really wish it was an etec motor just to watch the fireworks....yes I'm an "enabler".....sorry...
