I was gonna answer you over at THT but felt I'd get jumped....This will work fine for your 17 footer but I advise not to run it loud when crusing...it will take a lot of power and the amp will start to "stretch" and distort..this in turn will damage the speakers long term. Poly speakers are not very good in comparison to others at the same price. If it were me, and I was gonna hold on to this boat, I would mount a clarion 2 ch marine amp bought refurbished for about 80 bucks off ebay. A set of Infinty 6.5 kappas will outlast the boat for $100 or so. A simple single hole drilled in the dash and hang the ipod using a apple a/v cable to the amp and you're done. For about the same money as the PP kit. I "invented" this idea in 2000 and was written up in Motorboating for it.
