Default MMSI numbers

Hey guys lets put together a MMSI list this year so we can see where each other is on the chart plotter without telling the world where the fish are. What do you think...Mark

Dave dont feel bad I have to dig mine out too!! Now where did I put that manual!! I will post mine when I get it off the boat. I might have it saved in my mail folder. I know we would have to be on the same radio channel to get a fix...Mark

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I guess I don't know what a MMSI # is then. I thought you were talking about making a grid chart and then saying"I'm at g-3" or something along those lines. Can someone enlighten me???

Dave, don't feel bad...

Currently my radio is off the boat, along with my GPS, sitting in my console panel beside the computer. I pulled a battery off my boat and clipped some alligator clips to the power feeds. Like I said, I'm rewiring the boat this weekend.

Basically, you have to NMEA it to a GPS. Then do a call to an MMSI number on the same channel, to a specific number, boat. The boat will transmit it's gps location to your GPS, and said boat will pop up on your GPS as another mark. And nobody else will know where you are talking about.

SEE, simple.

Mine don't work though, but I'll fix it before June.

Thx Chris. It sounds simple enough. I just went out to the boat and turned the radio on. I have a Icom 502. Evidently, it is not hooked up to the GPS. It said no data on the location key. I need to see if I can find an owners manual for that radio.
