Default 77 Pictures from OBX, caution dial up users

Thanks for waiting guys..

I think this year was the best ever. All the old faces and some new ones, and we were missing a few but that's ok. It just continues to get better and better. Thanks to Fairweather for taking over the organization, Dawiggs for helping everyone out, and all the boat captains for giving everyone a ride. Thanks to my crew members, Jeff, Alan, Trigg, Chris and Paul.

The camaraderie this year was the best part. It's really nice to hear someone hook up and then call over another boat to get them hooked up also. That doesn't happen very often offshore, and with that knowledge sharing, we had one of the most effective years ever. We had boats from the north end to the south end, and that's better than any sattelite shot. SO, thanks guys.

I apologize for the format, but I've got so many pictures, that I thought I would just post them all, at least the one's that are PG rated (I've got some strange ones of Domino Effect goofing off). I've renamed them all, as best I could, and if you right click on the photo, and select properties, it'll give you you a small caption.

The boat running shots I picked out the best ones, but for the captains who are interested, PM me an email link and I'll forward all of them along that I have. I know how hard it is to get a good running shot. If anyone has a shot of me running, would you please email it to me at christophersmyers@hotmail.com.

Fishing was good, fri and sat we just couldn't dial in the fish, but we picked at the mahi. Saturday I hopped on board of Blue Magic's boat, and we got dialed in. We had the fish all too ourselves, and we had a good catch for only staying out there for 4 hours. I think we would have limited if we had stayed out all day, but he had to get going back to LA. I'd like to personally thank Fernando, Lee and Stephen for helping Braxton out, it is very rewarding seeing your child in a harness, hooked up to a big fish, and then catching it. Also, NO THANKS to Fernando for convincing him that Bananas are the key to catching tuna.

Enough, glad everyone had a good time, and look forward to seeing each and every one of you again.

Here's the pictures, in no particular order, and I'll upload more tomorrow...

Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

I love this one shot. Lemme give an explanation.

Fernando couldn't fish the gulf stream on Thursday, so they tried some flounders in the sound by the bridge, then decided to peek out and head 15 miles to the 102 tower for some amberjacks.

They borrowed my spinning gear for the flounder, then used the one rod for the AJ's that they had brought along for jigging.

This shot is of Fernando thinking "This ain't no big eye"

Your right his face has a very disappointed look on it. Almost like a "what the "explative" was I think."

For those of you who have fished with Fernando or DB as I like to call him know what the explative is.

I'll tell you, I was worried about that when I took Braxton on the boat on Sunday....

Believe it or not, he was very well behaved. I mean, extremely well behaved. He had Braxton driving the boat, asking him where to go, teaching him about the plotter, the sounder, showing him how to eat bananas, explaining everything, coaching him every which way throughout the whole trip. He even left the helm while gaffing a fish and told Brax to steer left and right while he gaffed.

I could not believe it, the man was tickled to have a youngster on board. He has a softer side when it comes to kids and dogs. Adults he has no patience for.

I need to go fish with him with a rated R crowd to see how I would stand up to a bigeye on his boat. I'll bet that'd be a different story.

I was the only one on the boat on Sunday who let out the F-bomb. We had that one bigger Mahi ( another nice 25 + pound fish according to Fernando, I was too busy reeling) at the end of the day, and he had two cousins with him when I got it to the swivel. So the crew dropped back two and hooked the two smaller ones, and we got those in the boat, with a three at a time hookup while mine was in the water, dancing around the transom, all three of us. The bigger one decided to make another run, and the line went POP 20 feet before the swivel, and I said the f-bomb 1 second after the line went slack. I had gotten the line nicked while dancing around the transom with 3 on.

Hey, it's fishing, not catching. But, both of us learned a lot that day.

And I also love that one S***-eating grin that Blue Magic has on his face while Braxton is on the harness fighting that 20 lb bailer in the one photo. I get the same feeling when I get hooked up
