betting.. wait what.. betting in the state of North Carolina is illegal... And since I own this joint i don't want to go to jail...

Ha Ha... Just kidding!!

Might be better till we get there and all can discuss face to face. The reason I say that is because ego's will get involved and people will pony up more cash....

But what I must say.. is that whatever we do, I feel the main side bet should only be for fishing on Friday & Saturday as many of the guys won't be arriving till Thursday night..

Agree???

I would set up differant catigorys of fish for side wagering on big fish for the whole get together and maybe do $50.00 a speices, pay back 50/50 [ childrens hospital ] and you can buy in on 1, 2 ,3,4 or 5 fish speices

Marlin
Tuna [ yellow fin ]
Tuna [ blue fin ]
Wahoo
Mahi Mahi

and each angler or boat can buy in to any or all for a set amount like 10 or 20 dollars per cat. and half the pot going for the donation.

Then do big fish for X-amount of days of the get togther pay back 50/50 maybe [ childrens hospital ] again this one could be by speices or just biggest edibil Legal fish [ No marlin ].

These are just ideas to get some thoughts going.

This has been brought up before in years past and it's gets to be too complicated for some boats and dummies like me to understand.

So here's my thought. KISS, stupid.

A measely sum, 5$ per angler for the entire weekend, 2 fish groups. Biggest fish wins.

Tuna
Mahi

Each person puts in 10$ on Thursday night. Fishing for the pot is Friday, Sat and Sunday.

Whoever wins the category gets the pot for that species fish.

You must enter both pots as an angler to win, and the fish must be caught on FRI, SAT or SUN, the days of the FWF.

Fish must be brought back to the dock and weighed before being filleted, with a witness. Weight at the dock only, not on the boat.

That means you Caiciallo!

Judges, in the event of a discretion would be Fairweather, Blue Magic, and Dawiggs.

This makes it easy. The sum is 10$ per angler for all weekend. Some of us can't do another $50 on top of fuel, bait ice, beer, lures, slippage, oil, transportation, lodging, charity, etc, etc.

10$ many more could handle, and per angler, that would round about 350$ if you win the weekend, for either a mahi or tuna.

Also, I'd say that IGFA rules do not apply here, so you could pass the rod off if needed, but whoever was on the rod when the fish got gaffed would get the payout. It's up to the boat crews to split it up. Gentleman's honor.

My thoughts, but the main point is 2 very attainable classes and a small monetary buyin to keep it reasonable and allow everyone to participate.

I also would like to add that we should all figure it out when the adrenaline is flowing and the boats are in the slips on Thursday night.

I'll volunteer to hold the money over the weekend while everyone is out fishing.!!!!

Shouldn't be like last years (THT) get together. Fernando should have gotten something for his Big Eye. He had a Mako, too. So, some version of largest fish, maybe something can be figured out for most fish/species.
