I've always enjoyed catching croaker then running to Manns Harbor and live baiting them for striper. Catch and release of course but on light tackle it can be a lot of fun!
Otherwise I try flounder but always have a hard time catching keepers
Maybe you should just troll the beach for spanish and brine those things for later.
. They are everywhere out there now and it probably won't be soon you convince yourself to troll inshore all weekend so why not stock up
