We caught them from the boiler (just south of the inlet) and all the way to Rodanthe. We caught them close to the beach and also a mile or two out. There was tons of balls of bait up and down the beach. We were concentrating on catching a cobia so we did not fish for them too hard. We only had a couple of rods out with clark spoons(one gold and one silver) and trolling sinkers with about 25' of leader. I would usually use a #1 planer but we used trolling sinkers so we could snatch them out of the water quick if we need to make a quick turn on a cobia. It was enough action to keep the guys in back back of the boat entertained while we were in the tower. Good luck!!
