Default Sat offshore Morehead

Fished with a buddy and his son and step son (both 14) on Saturday. After a bumpy 2+ hour ride out to the Rise we dropped lines. Caught a cuda then had 3 rods went down, and I missed a fourth 3x that I was trying to feed. The kids jumped into action and we went 2 for 3. The 3rd threw the hook at the boat. We picked away at the dolphin, all good sized fish. Then we hooked a screamer. After a 20 minute battle and several trips completely around the boat we were able to put about a 40 lb hoo in the boat, he also had cut off one of our lines off on his way to the bait that got him hooked, he cut it off so clean he didn't even set off the clicker. I was able to salvage the ilander at the cleaning table.

We ended up with about 7 gaffers, a hoo and a small blackfin. Most of the fish were caught of a pink/silver mylar lure and B/W ilanders. The kids finally cried uncle about 2:30 from reeling in too many fish and we headed in. The crew did great considering the sporty conditions, it never got much better and got a little nasty when the wind picked up. Most of the fish were caught between the Rise and SE BR. Lots of flyers, not really any weedlines or anything else to fish on, most of our fish came from the same area A great start to the season.

If anybody else fished out of Morehead, let me know how you did.
